I received formal training at The Conservatory of Music in Poland.

Toured as a singer internationally with the award-winning Gdansk Medical Academy Choir performing

a cappella music, oratorio, gospel as well as various other musical styles.

I held the position of accompanist, vocal coach, and performer at the Gdansk National Theatre.

The particular play I was involved in was political in nature, with anti-communist overtones.

We celebrated over one hundred performances, all to a sold out house.

In November 1981 we had the honor to bring the play to the shipyard workers, who had been on lockdown for several weeks, at a crucial moment of the Labor Union "Solidarity" movement under the leadership of Lech Walesa.

Just a few days later I was part of the performance of Mozart's Requiem, with the choir and Gdansk Philharmonic Orchestra to honor the fallen workers murdered by the communist regime.

The concert was broadcast live from a famous Cathedral thru loudspeakers to over a million people outside.

It truly was an unforgettable moment.

One week later, I left the country, but that's another story.

In late 1984 I became a member of Chalk Circle as a songwriter, keyboard, and saxophone player.

The band recorded two platinum and one certified gold album.

We landed a Japanese and German record deal and performed at a festival in East Berlin just months before the fall of the Berlin wall.

The promotional tour in support of the Japanese release as well as an appearance at the Tokyo Music Festival was abruptly canceled one day before departure due to the passing of Emperor Hirohito.

This sent the country into weeks of mourning and the canceling of all entertainment events.

Chalk Circle toured internationally as a headliner and shared the stage with bands such as

Crowded House,

Tears for Fears,

Rush,

The Waterboys,

Tom Cochrane,

Kim Mitchell,

The Tragically Hip,

Brian Setzer,

Jeff Healey,

Sarah McLachlan,

Billy Bragg,

Michelle Shocked and many others.

We produced eight music videos in support of the singles.

In 2006 Universal Music Canada released a Best of Chalk Circle compilation album as part of their ''20th Century Masters'' series.

The band reunited for a sold-out reunion performance in Toronto in 2006.

Over the last 25 years, I have worked on numerous projects including

feature films, award-winning documentaries, and television series.

My work includes the position of a composer, music director, producer, and sound engineer.

In 2003 I was involved in a side project called Cybermonkey.

The most popular album, Karma Wheels was nominated by the JPF Music Awards as the best ambient album and the composition Gdansk was nominated as the best ambient song of the year.

I train and prepare piano students for the Royal Conservatory of Music examinations, auditions for University level music programs, piano competitions, festivals, and various recitals.

I find this work very rewarding and satisfying.

I have mentored hundreds of young musicians and shared my knowledge and experience in the music industry.

In December of 2022, my students and I enjoyed our 23rd recital since joining the Long and McQuade Music Education Centre.

To watch these impressive young people you can find hundreds of videos on my YouTube channel.

I'm currently creating a music book of classical compositions for piano and as always writing new music in various genres.

The best men are not those who have waited for chances but who have taken them - besieged the chance; conquered the chance; and in the end made chance to serve THEM. Well Tad... I can 100% relate to what you are writing. Making music is art for some of us and something we can't be without. The process is like painting or sculpturing - making something come alive. Hi Tad, I took advantage of an opportunity today to do a good deal of listening. This page really is a wonderful cross section of your work! You've added some nice touches of reworking to pieces too! I would still like to sit and listen, but I have to get moving, so it will have to wait for another day. I remember talk of KASZËBË: Pioneers of the Wilderness being released on DVD. Did it ever? Or are there still plans of that happening? Also, I don't think I fully realized just how much Chalk Circle material there still is in the can! I mean aside from the 12 inch remixes of songs that no one can get anymore. Hmmmnnn..... it would probably make for a great 2cd package! Just a thought..... :~) Cheers, Marlon

Tad, Thanks so much for the station adds on your Midway Films station. Your original music is very cool. And you've compiled some great tunes from other folks on SC as well. I'm quite flattered that you've included a couple of my pieces with all this fantastic music. Thanks Mike

Hey Tad, My son and I want to thank you for adding two of Norwood Basement Band's tunes to your RockClick station ("River Mist" and "The Invasion"). When I told him you had toured with Rush his eyes lit up. Through you we feel a stronger connect to one of our fav bands all-time. We feel lucky right about now. I bought two 5th row seats for us to see Rush in concert here in Cincinnati September 1. I haven't seen them since the early 80's...long before he was born. This will be his first ever rock concert attended. In the meantime we will be enjoying more of your music here on SoundClick. btw, I added two of your works ("Ocean of Sorrow" & "Big White Clouds") to my Water Theme Landing...both very much enjoyed and in the realm of water. There is so much great stuff in your music page. Your talent has no bounds. best wishes, BFlatMajor7 & Son

Czesc Tadeusz, Wielkie dzieki za slowa uznania. Tak sie sklada, ze ja i Renata znamy sie - i to doskonale :-) Tak wiec zapraszamy Cie Polski, jesli tylko bedziesz mial "wolna chwile" ;) Teraz pracuje nad demem nowych sampli p. Siedlaczka (znany producent oprogramowania muzycznego). Pytales o wykonania... Moje kawalki wykonuja... sample. Niestety nie stac mnie na orkiestre :-) Moze kiedys? Jedynie do niektorych partii angazuje "zywych" instrumentalistow (np. Sluchalem Twojego utworu "Gdansk". Bardzo ciekawy, klimatyczny utwor. Gratuluje! Nie pytam o zrodla inspiracji, bo o tych mowi chyba tytul? :-) Pozdrawiam serdecznie, Maciek

I also notice you found John Clancy here at SC. He is one of my dearest friends and an accomplished composer. Keep up the brilliant work Tad. Take care, Rich

Hello Tad, Thanks for the add-friend. Hey, I just read your history. Some "long" history of accomplishments. You and your musical friends should be proud. Of course, I took particular note of the fact that your group had toured with Rush...which that says ALOT to me. To have traveled with them must have been a joy. If you don't mind, share a story or two on that. So far, I have only listened to "Ocean of Sorrow". Very good. I could hear the sorrow in it...but more prominent to my inner thoughts was the richness and vastness of the ocean. I also came away with the idea that we, the human race, are interwoven with the life of the ocean. Its survival dictates our own. Perhaps you could post a "lyrics/story" on that one, let us know the motivation behind it...like was it written for a particular film...and what you used to make all those cool sounds. In the meantime, I will be listening to others. My, you have a huge vault of music! Best wishes, BFlatMajor7

Hello there, Thanks for the friends add, fantastic collection of tracks you have, far too many for a full listen to all in one late evening, but from what i heard was real quality stuff and you're so lucky to have Bono guesting on vocals :-) bet you've never heard that before. Quite an amazing musical background you have, i can't say my cats meowing has influenced any of my songs but i did record them once, mucked around with them in a sampler for a few hours, made some amusing noises that made smile 'til i got bored, the sort of thing you do if you have far too much time on your hands. bye bye

Hi Tad...I think Alexsis was referring to Mixposure.com...the site where i met most of my current internet friends. It's supposed to be back online soon. Your music is really good and i'm still working my way through your list. I grew up near the shore of Lake Erie and spent many summers in Canada..thus the "eh" even in my writing. I get kidded about it alot but it's part of who i am. I love Canada...beautiful country with many good folks. Keep up the fine work and enjoy this wonderful Spring. Pinedog

Mar 16, 2007

Hello Tad, Thank you so much for adding "Perception Is Reality" to your station. The music was composed and recorded by myself, while Rob Grant wrote and played bass, he also wrote the most thought provoking lyrics after I conveyed some of my thoughts and feelings to him, I'm so happy you like the piece. Also thanks for adding "Myspace Blues" written by Rob Grant (yorksagedwip) my partner in GH Project, Rob did the vocals and played rhythm guitar, and bass, while I played keyboards, lead guitar, drum arrangment (smart loops) ebow guitar, mix and production. again I am happy that you like this song. I have a page at soundclick.com/melhayler where I post my own recordings of electronic/instrumental music and at myspace.com/melhayler where I post the same plus collabarations with other great artists of different genres of music. I will take the time to listen to your music too, soon! Thank you for listening! Best wishes, Mel Hayler
