My first single off my album Survivor is the song Lies.
I wrote Lies in one day. The lyrics first and then the music. The inspiration came from a place of disappointment by some of our politicians and how easily and shamefully they lie to us and manipulate those who support them.
As the world knows, politics have really created a division among people. Politicians, as well as religious leaders, know that they have a major influence on those who trust them. Unfortunately, some have misused that trust to obtain as much power as possible. Under all that power and greed is money. The more power they have, the more money that they can have. There seems to be no care for the family and friendships that they are destroying as long as they get what they want and keep us disagreeing with each other. It’s easier for them to openly create laws that do not benefit us because we are too busy arguing about a beer brand or what t-shirt a store is selling. All by design.
We also live in a time with so much disinformation where some politicians and religious leaders are actually telling people to not believe what they see and hear, but only what they are telling them in the moment. Keep in mind, their stance will keep changing if it benefits them (keep moving the goal posts). Certain media outlets also realized that they could make the most money by telling people what they want to hear, instead of reporting what is actually happening. People will continue tuning in if it aligns with their biases versus hearing something that they don’t agree with and refusing to tune in. Cognitive scientists have proven through research that we are more conditioned to respond to fear than we are a positive message. Those who are communicating the message are very well aware of this.
The elimination of The Fairness Doctrine has contributed to our current state. The Fairness Doctrine was put into law in 1949 because lawmakers became concerned that the three major networks at the time (ABC, CBS, and NBC) could misuse their broadcast license to set a biased public agenda. This also mandated networks to devote time to contrasting views on issues of public importance. This doctrine stayed in effect until the Reagan Administration in 1985. They claimed that it hurt the public interest and violated the free speech rights guaranteed by the First Amendment. There were multiple tries to overturn this, but it remained in place. This paved the way for Fox News and other outlets to report biased information. Knowingly lying to their audiences crosses the line of not only journalism but human decency knowing that the information could and has caused harm to people. These are good people who are being taken advantage of for their own financial gain.

I have always viewed my vote as a powerful action that I possess. I expect whoever is running for office to earn my vote. It’s not something I give away just because. It means something to me and I don't want politicians to take that for granted. Please remember that together, we can make a difference.
My first album release “Survivor” is now on all major streaming services!
I hope you enjoy the song and thank you for supporting the channel.
I use Ernie Ball Strings as I aspire for excellence much like my musical idols, including Paul Stanley, Jimmy Page, Billie Joe Armstrong, Angus Young, Joe Bonamassa, and Paul McCartney.
