Why I Don’t Listen to 99% of Mainstream Music | Biblical Truth

Most mainstream music today is not harmless entertainment—it is spiritual programming. Lyrics glorify sexual sin, adultery, fornication, drugs, alcohol, gang violence, pride, rebellion, and even mocking the dead. What you repeatedly listen to will eventually shape your thoughts, emotions, and behavior.

Music is a spiritual gateway. The Bible makes it clear that what enters the ears and eyes can either build your spirit or corrupt it. Many popular songs promote lifestyles that are directly opposed to God’s Word, normalizing sin while desensitizing people to its consequences.

This is why I choose to guard what I listen to. Not because I’m “religious,” but because I understand that dark messages produce dark fruit. Satan doesn’t need people to believe in him—he just needs them entertained and distracted while sin is celebrated.

The culture praises artists who glorify murder, gangs, promiscuity, drugs, and disrespect, yet wonders why depression, anxiety, broken homes, and violence continue to rise. Music that constantly feeds lust, anger, pride, and rebellion will eventually reflect in real life.

As believers, we are called to be set apart, not conformed to the world. That includes what we allow into our minds through music.
