According to Hopkinsmedicine.org (2023), melatonin is naturally produced by your body. It does not force you to sleep, but when your melatonin levels rise in the evening, you enter a condition of tranquil wakefulness that promotes sleep. On the other hand, Melanin is a complicated polymer derived from the amino acid tyrosine. Melanin is found in various amounts in human and animal skin and is responsible for your individual eye, hair, and skin color (my.clevelandclinic.org, 2023).
Melatonin usage for various ailments has been shown in research: Circadian rhythm sleep disorders and delayed sleep phase (delayed sleep-wake phase sleep disorder). Melatonin has been shown in studies to minimize the time required to fall asleep and to accelerate the onset of sleep in adults and children with this disease. Before administering melatonin to a child, consult with his or her doctor.
Insomnia. Melatonin may shorten the time it takes to fall asleep, according to research. Melatonin may be particularly effective for older persons who may be weak in melatonin (mayoclinic.org, 2023). Melatonin supplements may potentially elevate blood sugar and blood pressure in persons using certain hypertension drugs (Hopkinsmedicine.org, 2023).
