The firehose of propaganda

The “firehose of falsehood” propaganda model floods public discourse with high-volume, rapid, and contradictory misinformation, overwhelming critical thinking and making truth irrelevant. It’s not about persuasion—it’s about exhaustion, weaponizing confusion to erode trust in facts.

Used by authoritarian regimes and far-right movements, it spreads through social media, state-run media, and conspiracy networks, distorting history, whitewashing extremism, and reframing oppression as patriotism. When truth is buried under endless lies, the public disengages—leaving reality in the hands of those who seek to control it.
