It is totally my great pleasure to know this family and this young man, Miles Isbell. Miles is 10 years old and has been through much.
Miles' first Brain tumor was detected in September 2020. So everybody jumped into the medical world this last year and got through chemo and radiation.
Just before Christmas of 2021 the family received the bad news that the tumor had grown back. On Thursday, February 10, 2022, the doctors will operate to remove this new tumor. He has been enrolled in a clinical trial and the family is hopeful that it can stop the growth of the tumor. Oh, we wish him well!
Last July I started composing a little bit of a hero song. Every 10-year-old boy needs a hero song, especially one that is a true HERO. I put it away for a while and then just before Christmas we found out the tumor had returned. I started working on Miles' song again.
There are four themes in this song: (1) Miles' Theme (this is home his soft place to land), (2) The Hero Theme (when you put on that suit of armor and you know you have to be strong), (3) The Villain Theme (cancer), and (4) Miles vs. the Villain Theme.
Then the challenge came where I wanted it to be big and powerful and have a Cinematic Pop sound. So I had a quick, very quick class in producing and laying down tracks with a brand new laptop. My learning curve was seriously challenging. However, I had a wonderful man by the name of Timothy Blaine Wilson who is awesome with music. He helped me get going and the two of us pulled it all together the night before the operation.
I want Miles and his loving family to know that this is their song — this is their journey.
