Is mindfulness biblical, or is the Bible calling us to something deeper?
In this video, we explore what Scripture really teaches about watchfulness, guarding the mind, and setting our thoughts on Christ. While modern mindfulness focuses on calming the mind, the Bible calls believers to be spiritually awake, to guard the heart, and to fix our attention on things above (Matthew 26:41, Proverbs 4:23, Colossians 3:1–2).
We’ll look at:
• The difference between secular and Christian mindfulness
• Why God calls us to watchfulness
• How to guard your mind and thoughts
• What the Bible says we should set our minds on
• How focusing on Christ brings true peace
This isn’t about escaping life—it’s about meeting God in every moment and learning to live with a Christ-centered mind in a distracted world.

The Postmodern Condition: What Are We Living In?
The postmodern condition refers to the social, cultural, and psychological situation of human life in the contemporary world. It is marked by rapid technological change, global interconnectedness, and the weakening of traditional sources of authority such as religion, culture, and long-established social norms. Unlike earlier periods, which were guided by relatively stable beliefs and shared narratives, the postmodern world is characterized by uncertainty, diversity of viewpoints, and a questioning of "absolute truths."
One of the most visible features of the postmodern condition is speed. Information travels instantly, trends change rapidly, and people are expected to adapt continuously. This creates a sense of constant urgency and pressure to keep up. At the same time, society has become fragmented: individuals are exposed to countless opinions, lifestyles, and identities, often without a single clear framework to organize them into a coherent worldview.
Another defining feature is hyper-connectivity. Through smartphones and social media, people are always connected, yet this connection does not always lead to deeper understanding or stronger relationships. Instead, it often leads to information overload, comparisons, and mental fatigue. People consume enormous amounts of news, images, and opinions every day, leaving little space for reflection, silence, or inner clarity.
The postmodern condition also brings a deep uncertainty about truth and Meaning. Traditional "grand narratives" that once gave people a strong sense of purpose and direction—such as religion, ideology, or cultural traditions—no longer have the same universal authority. As a result, many individuals experience identity confusion, asking questions such as: Who am I? What should I believe? What really matters in life?
Psychologically, this environment creates new challenges. The constant pressure to perform, compare, and adapt can lead to stress, anxiety, burnout, and emotional exhaustion. While the postmodern world offers more freedom and more choices than ever before, it also places a heavy burden on individuals to construct their own identity, values, and Meaning.
In this sense, the postmodern condition is both an age of great opportunity and an age of deep inner tension. It provides access to knowledge, connection, and self-expression. Still, it also demands stronger emotional skills, greater self-awareness, and a more conscious effort to maintain mental balance and inner stability.
How Do We Stay Emotionally Healthy and Mentally Grounded?
In a fast, fragmented, and overstimulating world, mental well-being is no longer automatic. It has to be learned, practiced, and protected. Three major areas matter most: emotional skills, life structure, and inner Meaning.
