My desert adventure through Death Valley concluded as I traversed the Old Kern Canyon Road (Highway 178) from its junction with Highway 395. Seeking respite after the long journey, I camped overnight at the scenic Lake Isabella, nestled within the Sequoia National Forest. The tranquil lake provided a perfect contrast to the stark desert landscapes I'd just left behind. The next morning, refreshed and ready, I continued my journey, heading southwest towards Bakersfield, California, and ultimately, onto the bustling Golden State Highway 99.
