Sequoia Forest Industries (SFI) in Dinuba, California is permanently closed:
History
SFI was a lumber mill that operated from 1949 under various names, including Ivory Pine Co., Wickes Forest Industries, and Dinuba Timber. Sierra Forest Products purchased SFI in 1994.
Closure
SFI was forced to lay off over 100 employees due to a number of factors, including restrictions on public lands, changes to forest service policy, and the designation of the Sequoia National Forest as a national monument.
Products
SFI produced enough lumber each year to build 2,330 homes, as well as decorative bark, sawdust, and wood shavings.
