Dead Seas Comic

By Perfect Turd | Nov 14, 2022

Take it from us, reviewing B-movies can be a very dangerous job. But even we have to admit, it's not as dangerous as being trapped on a ship collecting Toxic Ectoplasm from the spirits of the dead! Well, that's exactly what the characters in the new six-part comic series Dead Seas (from IDW Originals) are doing, and we love it.

DEAD SEAS SYNOPSIS:

Ghosts are real and dangerous. But they’re also valuable, their ectoplasm capable of curing countless diseases. There’s only one problem: harvesting the wonder drug can be just as deadly. Prisoner Gus Ortiz is willing to take the risk in return for a reduced sentence—anything to see his daughter again. All it will take is a few months at sea scraping ectoplasm off the walls of the Perdition, a floating prison containing the most vicious ghosts on Earth. Surrounded by dark waters, Gus soon realizes that angry spirits are the least of his worries. The Poseidon Adventure meets The Haunting of Hill House in this supernatural thriller by New York Times best-selling author Cavan Scott (Star Wars: The High Republic) and fan-favorite artist Nick Brokenshire (Star Wars Adventures)

Why we like it:

There is a lot to like love about this comic. The premise alone is right up our alley.

There are ghosts everywhere? Yes. Tell us more. There is a ship that has a containment system for ghosts? Yes. Go on! Criminals are forced to work there collecting ghost goo to be used for medical purposes? Yes. WTF, this is awesome!!!

The premise is amazing and the author Cavan Scott does a great job setting up the universe and its characters. and a huge shout-out to artist Nick Brokenshire that delivers kick-ass illustrations for this.

All in all, this has been one of our favorite comics to review and we give it a full Perfect Turd endorsement to be turned into a movie someday!

Issue #1 of Deads Seas is hitting the shelves December 21st
