RUC Constable Noel Davies (Killed in Action – 24 May 1975)

On 24 May 1975, 29-year-old Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) Constable Noel Saunderson Davies lost his life in the line of duty near Maghera, County Londonderry.

Constable Davies was responding to reports of an abandoned vehicle parked near the Glenshane Pass. Unknown to the officers at the time, the car had been rigged with a hidden booby-trap explosive device by the Irish National Liberation Army (INLA). As Constable Davies approached to inspect the vehicle, the bomb detonated, killing him instantly.
