*Holocaust Memorial Day is a time to remember the six million Jewish men, women, and children murdered in the Holocaust, as well as the millions of others killed under Nazi persecution and in subsequent genocides.

It is observed on 27 January, marking the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau* in 1945. The day is recognised internationally and is also officially commemorated in countries such as the UK.
