π About pan and serving sizes:
Baking Pan: 9-inch Square Cake = nine slices: Cut cake into three Slices across and three Slices down
Baking Pan: 9-inch Round Cake, single layer = eight Slices.
Baking Pan: 9-by-13-inch cake pan, doubled recipe = twelve Slices: Cut the short side into three equal parts and the long side into four equal parts.
βπΌPreheat oven range temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit
βπΌ Grease 1 round, square, or rectangle cake pan
π Ingredients:
1 Β½ cups all-purpose unbleached flour
1 tsp baking soda
Β½ tsp salt
ΒΌ cocoa powder sifted
1-3 oz cherry-flavored gelatin
1/3 cup granulated sugar
ΒΌ cup dark brown sugar
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp soft butter
1 cup almond milk
2 tbsp white or apple vinegar
1 tsp vanilla extract
ΒΌ tsp almond extract
Directions π£
Sift or aerate the flour and spoon measure into a medium size mixing bowl
Add and whisk together baking soda, salt, cocoa powder, cherry-flavored gelatin, and granulated sugar
Make a well in the flour mixture
Add brown sugar, oil, butter, milk, vinegar, and extracts; combine well by gently stirring for about 1 minute. Do not overbeat, or the cake will be tough!
Pour the cake batter into the pan and twist the pan to level out the batter and reduce bubbles!
Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the middle of the cake.
Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes!
Loosen the sides, and carefully invert the pan onto a cooling rack
Dust with powdered sugar and cocoa, and set chocolate chips on top for decoration if desired or the frosting recipe below, not shown in the cooking show!
Frosting Ingredients:
One cup of sifted powdered sugar
2 tbsp butter or cream cheese
One pinch of Kosher salt
ΒΌ tsp vanilla or other flavorings
ΒΌ cup cocoa powder (optional)
1-2 tbsp of almond milk
Directions π£
Cream the butter with sugar, cocoa, salt, and flavoring
Add milk, 1 tbsp at a time, until desired thickness
