Bill Elliott is a former Nascar Cup Series and Xfinity Series driver who competed from 1976-2018. He won the Nascar Cup Series championship in 1988. As well as winning the Winston Million promotion in 1985 by winning 3 out of 4 of the crown jewel races in the Cup Series. Elliott has spent time behind the wheel of several high profile teams' racecars, such as Melling Racing, Junior Johnson and Associates, Evernham Motorsports and Wood Brothers Racing. Not to mention in 1987 he set a Nascar speed record when he averaged a lap of 212.809 MPH at Talladega Superspeedway during qualifying. In 1992, Elliott moved to the Junior Johnson and Associates team, where he almost won the Nascar Cup Series championship again but lost to Alan Kulwicki by just a few points. From 1995-2000, he operated as an owner/driver, the same as several others during the same time period. Dodge made it's return to the Nascar Cup Series in 2001 and Elliott was picked as there flagship driver, of Evernham Motorsports #9 Dodge. This is the team he would score his final 4 Cup Series victories with, the final coming at Rockingham 2003. Elliott would run part time from 2004-2012. In 2018, he returned to the Xfinity Series for a one off start at Elkhart Lake. In 2020 his son Chase Elliott won the Nascar Cup Series championship and is a superstar in Nascar today. Thanks for watching and take care.
