NASCAR Star & Dirt Racing Legend: Ken Schrader

Ken Schrader is a former Nascar Cup Series, Xfinity Series, Craftsman Truck Series, ARCA Series, USAC, Dirt Modifieds and Sprint Car driver who competed from 1971-2025. Making starts for several notable owners throughout his racing career such as Junie Donlavey, Rick Hendrick, Andy Petree and the Wood Brothers among others. Getting his start in racing at Lake Hill Speedway in 1971 driving in the Sportsman division. The next season Schrader began making Sprint Car starts. Running at short tracks all across the midwest through the 1970s. In 1980 Schrader joined USAC. Also attempting the 1983 Indianapolis 500 in 1983, unfortunately he wrecked his only racecar in practice. Not allowing him to even attempt a qualifying lap.

Making his Nascar Cup Series debut in 1984 making 5 starts for Elmo Langley. The following season, Schrader started running full-time in the Cup Series and would continue this until the 2007 season. Winning 4 Cup Series races throughout his 9 years driving for Hendrick Motorsports. Retiring from the Cup Series following the 2013 Cup Series season. Also Schrader became the oldest driver to win a NASCAR sanctioned event by winning a Nascar Pinty's Series race in 2023. To this day he continues to race Dirt Modifieds regularly.
