Team Ireland was a Nascar Cup Series raceteam who competed from 1991-1992. Irish racer Martin Biranne owned the team. John Paul Jr and Bobby Hillin Jr were the team only 2 drivers. Biranne was getting his racecars and engines from Richard Childress Racing. The team showed speed at times and even would finish 8th in the fall Charlotte Mello Yellow 500 before NASCAR would disqualify the team for illegal cylinder heads. Leading NASCAR to levy a hefty fine, on small money strapped team. This coupled with the fact Biranne could not find solid sponsorship for his #31 Chevrolet lead him to abruptly leave NASCAR following the Charlotte race in the fall of 1992, Team Ireland closed its doors for good. Officially thier best finish was 13th ironically at Charlotte in the spring.
