Adam Petty is a former stock car driver, who competed from 1997-2000. He is the son of 7 time Nascar Cup Series champion, ' The King' Richard Petty, the great grandson of 3 time Nascar Cup Series champion Lee Petty and the son of 8 time Cup Series winner Kyle Petty. Adam was believed to be the first 4th generation athlete in professional American sports. He made 1 start in the Nascar Cup Series at Texas Motor Speedway, starting 33rd and finishing 40th after blowing his engine. In 2001 he was supposed to run for NASCAR Cup Series rookie of the year. Sadly he never made it to 2001, Petty died in an accident at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in May of 2000 during Xfinity Series practice.
