Rob Moroso is a former Nascar Cup Series, Xfinity Series and Dash Series driver who competed from 1985-1990. He was a talented young racer working hi way up through the ranks in Nascar. Rob's father, an aftermarket racing part supplier. Rob began his racing career in the Nascar Dash Series, once he got his driver's license in 1985 and 1986, winning 4 races altogether and finishing 2nd in championship points standings in 1986. In 1987 he made the jump up to the Xfinity Series in 1987, in 1988 he won his first career Xfinity Series poles and races. As well as when he made his Nascar Cup Series debut. Then in 1989 Rob dominated the series, winning 7 poles and 4 races along with the series championship. The 1990 Nascar Cup Series season was Moroso's rookie season in series. He had a long difficult season only scoring 1 top 10 and 15 DNF's in 25 starts. On September 30, 1990, Moroso had been seen drinking at a lounge in Cornelius, NC. Prior to making the horrible decision to drive while intoxicated, taking a curve way too fast. He lost control of his vehicle, skidding for more than 200 feet before he was struck in the driver side door by an incoming car in the opposite lane. The collision killed both Moroso and the driver of the other vehicle. Moroso was given the Nascar Cup Series rookie of the year award posthumously.
