Bahari Racing is a former Nascar Cup Series and Xfinity Series raceteam who competed from 1981-1999. Some notable drivers spent time driving for the team, including Geoff Bodine, Michael Waltrip, Johnny Benson and Derrike Cope. Once they began running the full Cup Series schedule, Bahari Racing was a regular top 15 team for several seasons.
Some of the accomplishments that Bahari achieved during their existence were winning 5 poles and finishing inside the top 15 in final Cup Series point standings 4 separate occasions. In the Xfinity Series, the team won 8 poles and 6 races, all with Michael Waltrip driving the race car. Also winning Cup Series Rookie of the Year honors in 1996 with Johnny Benson.
At the conclusion of the 1997 season both Benson and longtime sponsor Pennzoil left the team. This was the beginning of this teams demise, signing Derrike Cope to drive for 1998 and 1999. No longer fast enough to qualify for races consistently, Rider and Harry sold the team to Jack Birmingham following the 1999 Brickyard 400.
