Carl Edwards is a former Nascar Cup Series, Nationwide Series, now O'Reilly Auto Parts Series and Craftsman Truck Series driver who competed from 2002-2016. Spending almost his entire career driving for either Roush Fenway Racing or Joe Gibbs Racing. Edwards has won races in each of NASCAR'S top 3 touring series, celebrating each victory with his celebratory back flips off the side of his racecars. Winning 72 races throughout his NASCAR career. Two of those victories were crown jewel events, the 2015 Coca-Cola 600 and the 2015 Southern 500. In 2007 Edwards won the Busch Series, now O'Reilly Auto Parts Series championship. On two separate occasions, Edwards should have won a Nascar Cup Series championship. Though unfortunately both times NASCAR played a role in the outcome. This because in 2011, Tony Stewart and Edwards actually tied in final point standings. The tie breaker was decided by whichever driver had won the most races in that seasons Chase, leaving it to Tony Stewart after he won 5 out of 10 races in the 2011 Chase. By the conclusion of the 2014 season Edwards and Roush Fenway Racing parted ways. For the final 2 seasons of his NASCAR career, Edwards joined Joe Gibbs Racing. Winning 5 Cup Series races and almost winning the 2016 Nascar Cup Series championship. Until Dylan Lupton cut a tire, he didn't even make contact with the wall before NASCAR put out a caution with about 10 laps to go, just to bunch the field back up for the finish of the race. Retiring for good at the conclusion of the 2016 season after Joey Logano spun him on the final restart.
