Joe Ruttman is a former Nascar Cup Series, Xfinity Series, Craftsman Truck Series and ARCA driver who competed from 1963-2007. Ruttman has spent time in all ends of the garage area. His older brother is Indy 500 winner Troy Ruttman. Moving from team to team season after season made it difficult for Joe Ruttman to find his footing in NASCAR.

By 1995 NASCAR had formed the Craftsman Truck Series, a series in which Ruttman would finally find his way becoming one of the the Truck Series new stars. Retiring after running the final 4 Craftsman Truck Series races of his career. Winning several races and having several great championship point seasons in the Truck Series.
