Wendell Scott and his Scott Racing team was the first African American NASCAR team to score a NASCAR Cup Series victory. In fact, in the face of racism and prejudice the team made 499 NASCAR Cup Series starts. They competed from 1961-1973. In those 499 starts they scored 1 pole, 1 win, 21 top 5s and 155 top 10s. With a best points finish of 6th in 1966 by Wendell Scott.
