Kendrick Johnson (October 2, 1995 – January 11, 2013) was a 17-year-old student-athlete from Valdosta, Georgia, whose death inside a rolled-up gym mat at Lowndes High School became a national symbol of alleged racial injustice and investigative failure . On January 10, 2013, surveillance footage captured Kendrick entering the school's old gym. The next morning, classmates discovered his body upside down inside an upright wrestling mat.
