Thousands of Christians around the world live with a reality many of us can barely imagine: following Jesus Christ can cost them their homes, their freedom, their families—and sometimes their lives.
In Nigeria, Christian communities have endured devastating violence, displacement, kidnappings and attacks. But Nigeria is not the only place where believers suffer for the name of Jesus.
This message is for them.
To the Christian worshipping in secret.
To the believer hiding a Bible.
To the pastor who continues preaching despite the danger.
To the prisoner who refused to deny Christ.
To the family driven from home.
To every brother and sister suffering because you belong to Jesus:
*We see you.
But infinitely more important:
Jesus sees you.
The persecution of Christians did not begin with our generation. Jesus warned His disciples that following Him could carry a terrible price. Stephen was killed while looking toward heaven. The apostles were persecuted. Paul was imprisoned. Generation after generation of Christians discovered that earthly powers can threaten the believer—but they cannot overthrow the Kingdom of God.
And before any Christian suffered for Jesus, Jesus Christ suffered for us.
He was rejected.
He was condemned.
He was crucified.
But the tomb could not hold Him.
Jesus Christ rose from the dead.
That is the hope of the persecuted Church.
“Because I live, you shall live also.” — John 14:19
This documentary is not a message of hatred toward Muslims, ethnic groups, nations or governments. Innocent people from different religious communities have suffered from terrorism, criminal violence and instability. Every innocent life matters.
We pray for justice.
We pray for protection.
We pray for the persecuted.
And following the example of Jesus and Stephen, we even pray that persecutors will encounter Jesus Christ and be transformed.
To every persecuted follower of Jesus:
You are seen.
You are remembered.
You are loved.
You are not alone.
And your King is coming.*
