Samsung has just dropped ANOTHER update for the Galaxy S26 Series — and this one is a surprise! 😱

After the stable One UI 9 / Android 17 update, Samsung is already rolling out another software update to the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra.

But here's the strange part...

We're still in September 2026, yet my Galaxy S26 Ultra is already showing the 5 October 2026 security patch!

Normally, you'd expect September's security patch while we're still in September, so why has Samsung pushed the October patch early?

In this video on The Simple Dad, I'll show you exactly what's included in this latest Galaxy S26 update, including the firmware version, download size and what Samsung says has changed.

📱 Update details shown in the video:

One UI: 9.0

Android: Android 17

Update size: 544.15 MB

Security patch: 5 October 2026

Galaxy S26 Ultra firmware: S948BXXS4BZIG / S948BOXM4BZIG / S948BXXU4BZI9

There don't appear to be any major new features in this update. Samsung lists improved security as the main change, making this primarily a security-focused update following the stable One UI 9 release.

I'll also be keeping an eye on battery life, performance, heating, stability and any hidden changes after installing it.
