It turned out to be the worst turbulence I’ve ever experienced. The day began with reasonably clear skies, despite numerous wildfires burning out of control nearby. Conditions were calm, and I was ready for a pleasant flight. That changed quickly. The air shifted into an unusual turbulence with sudden hot air bursts and areas that felt like missing air.
