DSGA X 'Black Square'

Tom R. Chambers utilizes Kazimir Malevich's "Black Square" to superimpose an "X form" of the art pieces from his "Digital Suprematism - Geometric Abstraction (DSGA)" project to pay tribute to this Suprematist and pioneer in abstraction. The X-form hybrids and "Black Square" compound the notion of all art before this Suprematist art piece ("Black Square") as insignificant or irrelevant due to its representational nature.

The X symbol ... in this case ... is used for the concept of rejection/cancellation. It also signifies an entity whose existence is over, past, and gone. The X-form hybrids blatantly indicate the reason for the

existence of "Black Square". Another "tongue in cheek" interpretation might be "X marks the spot" ... the spot being "Black Square". "DSGA X Black Square" is a bold and thought-provoking project that invites viewers to engage with the intersection of historical and contemporary abstraction. At the core of the composition are two diagonal lines converging to form an "X" against a rich black background, reminiscent of Malevich's pioneering "Black Square."

The lines are constructed from an array of DSGA art pieces, showcasing carefully orchestrated gradients of color. These gradients not only underscore the meticulous attention to color dynamics but also breathe life into the artworks, as if the colors are in constant motion. The symmetrical arrangement of these vibrant color blocks and gradients creates a harmonious structure, drawing the eye to the intersection where the past meets the present.

This meeting point is more than just a visual anchor; it is a symbolic gesture of cancellation and homage, underscoring the revolutionary impact of abstraction while simultaneously celebrating the evolution of artistic expression. The thoughtful use of geometric forms and the interplay of color reflect a nuanced understanding of space, encouraging viewers to contemplate the delicate balance between chaos and order. Through its playful yet deliberate composition,

"DSGA X Black Square" represents rejection and renewal, a testament to the profound narrative that these simple intersecting lines convey. "X marks the spot" takes on new meaning here, suggesting both an end and a beginning within the abstraction tradition. This artwork is an invitation to explore

beyond the literal and dive into a world where form and color encapsulate deep, transformative concepts.
